Dr. Nika Nikookar
Nothing makes Dr. Nika Nikookar happier than giving a patient their smile back. Whether she is getting someone out of pain or taking care of a longstanding cosmetic flaw, her goal is to help everyone leave our office with a big grin on their face. She’s thrilled to be a part of the team at My Frederick Dentist, and before you meet her in person, you can learn more about her background below.
Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Nikookar was attracted to dentistry because she saw that it was the perfect combination of art and science, two of her biggest passions. Plus, it would allow her to help people on a daily basis, improving their health and appearance while forming strong relationships at the same time. She also likes that the field is constantly evolving, so there is always more to learn and new ways to provide even better care.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Nikookar earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a focus on physiology and neurobiology from the University of Maryland, and she stayed at the same institution to complete her dental degree. During her last year of dental school, she trained as a periodontal clerk, during which she was mentored by internationally renowned periodontists and learned how to perform advanced procedures like crown lengthening, bone grafting, and gingivectomies using the latest technology and techniques.
She is also a member of the following professional organizations:
- American Dental Association
- Maryland State Dental Association
- Southern Maryland Dental Society
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Nikookar loves traveling and spending time with friends and family. At home, her favorite hobbies include doing old-style Persian calligraphy (she’s been practicing since she was 9-years old) and baking.
