Dr. Andrew Aziz

Technically and artistically minded, Dr. Andrew Aziz appreciates the opportunity to combine his passion for helping others with his ability to work with his hands. For more than a decade, he has provided superior service and care to patients throughout Frederick, Maryland, including the nearby area of Walkersville.

After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, College Park, he worked as a dental assistant before enrolling at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry to earn his dental doctorate in 2011.

An avid learner, he regularly pursues continuing education opportunities to refine and expand his skills across specialties, including cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, and endodontics.

When he’s not busy in the office, you’ll find him with his wife, Sharon, and their daughter, Sophia. They also have a dog named Alfi. He enjoys traveling, cooking, trying new foods, and watching and playing sports. He is often found cheering on the Redskins, Orioles, Capitals, and Wizards.

Dr. Azhar Akber

A native of Central Asia, Dr. Azhar Akber did not visit the dentist until he was 19. Once he moved to the United States, he made it his mission to improve his oral health and his family’s, as there was little knowledge of oral healthcare in his community.

He decided to volunteer and shadow at a dental practice, discovering how it combines medicine, science, and art, all while lending a helping hand to others. Seeing the impact dentists had on their patients, he wanted to do the same.

This led him to enroll at the University of Maryland, College Park, for his undergraduate degree. He then attended the University of California, San Francisco, for his dental doctorate. During a general practice residency at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, he received advanced training and hands-on experience in endodontics, dentures, oral surgery, and restorative care for veterans with complex medical histories.

Outside of the office, you’ll often find him watching or playing soccer and spending time with his family and friends. He regularly travels and likes to explore local and national parks to hike.

Why Are You Looking for a Dentist Near Walkersville?

I Need a Checkup & Cleaning

You might think your mouth must be healthy if you haven’t noticed obvious areas of concern, but the truth is you could develop early stages of tooth decay or gum disease and not know until your condition worsens.

Scheduling a routine checkup and cleaning near Walkersville every 6 months allows our team to monitor your oral health so we can more easily detect and treat any areas of concern, like thinning enamel or swollen gums, before they progress. We also screen the soft tissues of your mouth for signs of oral cancer, and offer other protective services, like fitting you with a customized mouthguard, nightguard, or sportsguard, to avoid dental damage.

I Need a Dentist for My Child

If you’re seeking a one-stop shop where you and your family can all expect the same level of top-quality oral healthcare services, you’ve come to the right place! Our team is experienced working with patients of all ages and understands the unique needs of still-developing smiles.

We gladly provide routine exams and cleanings, preventive dental sealants, topical fluoride to strengthen enamel, and other services as required to protect, preserve, or repair your child’s teeth and gums.

I Am Concerned About Bleeding Gums

Gum disease often starts small and can sometimes be reversed by improving your at-home dental hygiene routine to include flossing. But if it progresses, you’ll likely require professional treatment to address it.

We offer a 2-part deep cleaning known as scaling and root planing to clear even the most stubborn plaque or tartar buildup and discourage additional deposits from forming. We can also provide special antibiotics or carefully remove or reshape damaged gums with a soft tissue laser procedure.

I Have a Cavity/Broken Tooth

Historically, dentists relied on metal amalgam restorations, such as dental fillings and crowns, to repair decayed, damaged, or broken teeth. Thanks to updated technology and materials, today, our team near Walkersville utilizes customizable, tooth-colored materials for more realistic results.

If you’re worried these lifelike repairs won’t last as long, you can safely set your concerns aside. They often remain in good condition for 5 to 15+ years when cared for correctly, which in many cases is just as long as their metallic counterparts.

I am Missing One or More Teeth

Permanent tooth loss can make once-basic tasks, such as eating, speaking, and smiling confidently, much more challenging. Our compassionate providers understand that you may be struggling with the changes, and offer multiple options to help rebuild your mouth’s function and appearance.

For example, a dental bridge can be an ideal way to replace anywhere from 1 to 4 missing teeth in a row. Meanwhile, those who have experienced significant or total tooth loss might benefit from full or partial dentures. Our providers have completed advanced training and use state-of-the-art equipment to place and restore dental implants in the office.

I Want to Enhance My Smile

You’re not alone if you’re feeling self-conscious about dental flaws, such as chips, cracks, stubborn stains, mild gaps, or slight misalignments. Fortunately, our providers near Walkersville offer a variety of cosmetic procedures, including porcelain veneers, metal-free tooth-colored restorations, cosmetic dental bonding, professional in-office teeth whitening, and BOTOX®.

If you’re unsure which services can help you achieve your aesthetic goals, we can gladly devise a customized treatment plan after your initial consultation.

I Want to Straighten My Smile

Spacing concerns, such as crooked, gapped, or overcrowded teeth or a bite misalignment, can detract from your appearance as well as your dental health. We offer two methods of straightening smiles so you can choose the option that works best for your circumstances.

Invisalign utilizes transparent plastic trays that fit snugly over your arches to shift your teeth to their ideal positions more comfortably and discreetly than standard orthodontics. We also offer Fastbraces®, which rely on metallic brackets shaped as triangles instead of squares to shift the crowns and roots of your teeth simultaneously, reducing the length of treatment.

I am in Pain & Need Help

Dental emergencies can happen at any time, so our office near Walkersville reserves time for same-day visits for urgent situations. If you’ve sustained an injury, developed a toothache, damaged a restoration, or have some other concern, please contact us as soon as possible and we’ll schedule an appropriate time to see you.

Once you arrive, we’ll examine your mouth and can provide medication, such as a local numbing agent or nitrous oxide sedation (laughing gas), to help you feel calm and comfortable. Then, we can devise a treatment plan, which might include a root canal or extraction, based on your circumstances.

How We Help Make Dentistry Affordable

Good news: there are a few ways you can save at our dental office near Walkersville! During your appointment, we can provide you with an estimate of the cost of your care and discuss the financial solutions that are available in depth. If you want to learn more in the meantime, feel free to click on the icons below.

We Welcome Dental Insurance

Do you have dental insurance? If so, you should read through the fine print on your plan to familiarize yourself with your benefits! If the unfamiliar jargon and red tape make this difficult, don’t hesitate to let us know. Since we work with several popular providers, including Ameritas, Assurant/Sun Life, and Cigna, we can help you understand your coverage and provide you with an estimate of your out-of-pocket expenses. We can even file the paperwork, which makes the process even easier for you.

We Happily Accept Flexible Financing

What if you don’t have dental insurance? In that case, we recommend exploring the other ways you can make your treatment more affordable, like signing up for Alphaeon and Cherry. That way, you don’t have to pay for the entire cost in one lump sum. Instead, you can look through their payment plans, pick the one that’s best for you, and pay for your treatment in monthly installments that don’t exceed your budget.

We Have an In-House Membership Plan

Another great way to save is by joining our membership plan. Our adult membership includes two professional cleanings, one emergency exam, and 15% off several treatments that are completed at our office. The best part? Unlike dental insurance, there aren’t waiting periods, annual maximums, or other restrictions that will stand in the way of your savings. Plus, signing up only takes a few minutes. If you would like more details, let us know. We’d be happy to answer any questions you have!

We Extend Periodic Special Promotions

Last, but certainly not least, our dental team near Walkersville offers periodic specials, like a $59 emergency exam or $500 off Invisalign. Since they change throughout the year, we recommend checking the “Offers & Promotions” page on our website. Of course, you can get in touch with a member of our team as well! That way, they can provide details, answer any questions you have, and apply any applicable discounts to your upcoming appointment.
